David Eastburn of Moonshot has just published:

Harbours and Anchorages of Scilly: A Yachtsman's Guide to the Isles of Scilly. It's available on Amazon and modestly priced.

David also suggested a Scilly Isles meet up. Those of you who read of my misadventure last year will understand that I think it's an excellent idea. I like the concept of sailing with expert guidance.

I've asked David to suggest a date or dates. Any interest from others?

I post David's reply:

Often, when I sail to Scilly, I seem to collect an little gaggle of friends' yachts or friends of friends' yachts in a loose, informal flotilla, so this would be nothing new to me.

As it happens, I have a trip planned beginning on June 6 (weather permitting). If anyone cared to join up, I would suggest we met up at Cliffside [In Flushing opposite Falmouth - ed] for a pre-cruise BBQ on the evening of that day and set sail the following morning (HW 0355). My preference would be for a 2-day journey anchoring somewhere in Mounts Bay on the night of June 7, but if conditions were perfect  ...

For me, it might just be too soon. I was, as I was last year, caught out by lockdown with a major task started - weather might be against me finishing so I can sail 1st June as I planned.

Hi David and Peter,

Yes it sounds a really nice idea.  I am off on a jolly late June but I may be able to come along if I manage to sort Helix in time.  May I ask were Cliffside is please?  Really nice idea.

Hi Stephen

Only just seen this. Apologies.

Cliffside is in Flushing overlooking the Falmouth harbour moorings. You can row into the beach at the bottom of the garden or land at the Flushing sailing club Quay just 50 yards down the road.

The Clyde tp the Scillies is a little ambitious for us at the moment Peter, but keen to buy David's book as I'll make it there one day... is there any where else we can buy it from  though? Don't want to give Jeff Bezos any money if I can possibly help it

Best
