Sailing dead downwind. See the photo.

Poled out genoa with the Monitor windvane keeping her dead downwind better than I could have done.

I had thought about twin genoas wing on wing with no main, but this worked a treat.

I can't see the photo but you're right about the Monitor.

Do you have the large vane or the standard, smaller, one?

Large vane, I’ve a smaller one but it’s for a real blow… lacks response in normal wind range.

Technical hint: Photos need to be less than 1 Mb. See the Hints and Tips under My Account.

I would increase the size allowed but I do vaguely think about the size of the site. Photos take up a lot of space and the site is now over 6 something or other Bytes. We pay for space and have recently had to increase it. It’s not hugely expensive but…I first started doing computer things when memory was really really expensive.

I have now uploaded the resized photo. It was 3.5 Mb.

I have added a staysail, to Ondine. Love this sail when wind pipes up especially to windward as it has small battens. Downwind I found the monitor struggled with the main up, but didnt try larger vane, will have a go with that cheers Simon
