A new forehatch was one of many improvements to Gn Helix over the last 10 yrs. The work was done to a high standard by Jonathan Leach, Freshwater Boatyard, St.Mawes.
The original one was flat, but became discoloured. The new one has more wood round a slightly smaller but now clear window. It is strong enough for a war dance by the spinnaker hand!
I don't know whether Jon' bought it or built it, but if you like I will esearch it further ?
Good luck with it anyway.

Hi,
Is Marnier a composite boat?
I put a new forehatch on Sueno which is composite.
We built new hatch coamings in teak glueing them to the old hatch sides that had been left in place. Apart from adding strength this allowed us to put a Lewmar Ocean hatch straight onto the opening. It was a near perfect fit. It is one of the best improvements that I have made to the boat. I think you will see similar hatches on the technical pages of this site but if you want a photo just let me know.
Good luck with it.

Hello David,
That's how we had thought to do it, please could you send me a picture? So I can see how you have done it. Do you remember which hatch you used?
She is a composite Twister and we are having to replace some of the wood around the forehatch so if we need to modify the it to fit a new hatch then now would be the ideal time.
Thank you for all your replies, it seems like a new hatch is the way to go, plus its one less piece of wood I have to sand and varnish, which is a blessing when you have the whole interior and exterior wood down to bare!
Best wishes,
Katie
