Cabrach is stuck in Plymouth with a very dead engine. As it is a 40 year old Yanmar YSE12 I think it's time to renew. Ideas please? Beta 18hp, Nanni, Yanmar etc has anyone any experience of these. At present she has a three bladed Darglow feathering prop.

Martin has gone for a Beta 16. He is now thing about propeller size. 13" diameter is standard...but the pitch is in question.

If anyone is interested I have decided to replace like with like on the prop. The old one from 2005 was a Darglow JF and was in reasonable condition after 11 years, but was left handed and all new engines are right handed. Darglow are making a featherstream to replace it, the price is rather more than the 2005 one, but the advantage is that the pitch can be varied by inserting a new cassette. The new engine hopefully is arriving today and the prop at the end of the week. Maybe I will continue my summer sailing soon. I'll post any further news here.

Finally many thanks to Peter Mulville and John MacMullen for their helpful advice during a stressful time. John and Ann are en route to Norway it sounds like a great trip. Martin
