Hello!

We have taken out our Baby Blakes Minor loo to refurbish it and I've just seen the price of the maintenance kit and the spares... As it is in a bad way I am thinking it might be a better option to replace it and incorporate a holding tank.

Should I keep going and refurb the blakes or change it for one of these:
http://www.force4.co.uk/depart.....let-m.html

or one of these:
http://www.force4.co.uk/depart.....mpact.html

Has anyone had any experience refurbishing a Blakes or installing the above heads?

Holding Tank - Now here's a nice discussion... Has anyone installed a holding tank that can tell me where, how and did it have to be custom made?

Thanks,

Katie

P.S. Mariner II is having her gelcoat removed below the waterline tomorrow so she can dry out.

Hi Katie,

Been there, done that! If you'd like a copy of the write up I did on it please email me ..... john@johnmacmullen.co.uk and I'll send it to you. Happy to discuss the implications too.

Cheers

Katie,

Some people swear by Blakes, I sold mine on ebay and replaced it with a Jabsco on Temeraire, there are two sizes I got the larger on in and it's great works well and cheap to maintain (the blakes service kit was nearly the price of the Jabsco Unit). Where are you based?

Regards,

James

Hi James,

The boat is in East Mersea near to Colchester. Have you added a holding tank too?

Thanks,

Hi Katie, No holding tank I'm afraid, but I did once have a diesel tank made by TekTanks it was very well made and they do do all types of tank. Probably not overly cheap but I think they would make any shape if you gave them a template.
The address is:
Tek-Tanks Ltd
The Old Stables
West End Farm
Colthouse Lane
Upper Froyle
Hampshire
GU34 4JR
England

Hello John,

Thank you for sending me the article. I am amazed at the size of it! It looks ideal. I have ordered my Lavac and I just need to make the decision whether to add the tank now or next year. The list of things that need doing to the boat seems to be growing daily and I want to sail this year so I need to prioritize.

I will be in touch and thank you for your help.

Best wishes,

Katie
