Best way to restore Topsides|Forum|Twister Class Association

Recently taken Helix out of the water and the process of dealing with a few unwanted issues begins again. Helix Topsides clearly have not been polished for some years. she does have quite a good gelcoat finish even if it is a little thin.  I presume I need to use some sort of fine cutting polish and then finish with a polish.  rather cut through the chaff and start with a good product though. any recommendations at all please.  Also engine removed for a good clean and polish. has anyone used a Lacquer/clear coat and if so any specific products.
