We have an ancient autohelm 800 which amazingly still works but seems too weak to hold the boat on course other than in light winds and perfect balance or under power.  Is there a concensus regarding what would make an appropriate replacement? I think something electronic would be more suitable for our unambitious local sailing, but I'm open to suggestions.  After twenty years ownership I'm coming to the conclusion that sailing could be even more fun without having to hang on to a wooden stick for hours at a time!

Hi

The Raymarine EV 100 is an arm and a leg to buy; but it's worked very well for me. Recently, it excelled holding me on course [without adjustment] for over 5 hours when I was pressing the boat hard.

I know at least one other Twister has one; the owner has spoken well of it.
