Looking for sailing club

Hi all, I'm in the process of buying a wooden Twister, and am looking for a sailing club to keep her.

*Located somewhere on the south coast between Chichester and Exmouth - looking for somewhere less than a 3 hour drive from Malmesbury.

*Somewhere with other boats similar to mine, so I can hopefully get occasional advice from more experienced boat owners.

*All else being equal, I prefer a rural area. I was a member of Swanage sailing club last year, which was great for dinghy sailing, but they don't have a fleet of bigger boats.

*A fleet of club-owned dinghies and a dinghy racing program could be a nice bonus, but not essential.

Looking for suggestions to start  researching.

It's not a sailing club, thought there are two nearby (with active dinghy fleets), but Emsworth Yacht Harbour has not one but two wooden shipwrights on site, Nick Gates and Andrew Oliver, both excellent in their own way. The marina of course charges marina prices, but there are deep water swinging moorings in the Emsworth Channel. There are also a number of Twisters in the area, including one all wooden one. Emsworth itself is a very pleasant small town, but the surrounding area is rural with the South downs as a backdrop. Might tick most of your boxes? PS I don't work for the Emsworth Tourist Board.

Jose,

Redclyffe might meet your needs.

Redclyffe Yacht Club Poole Harbour based, great little club, own moorings and pontoons. Ideal for a Twister.

Thank you both!

Emsworth Yacht Harbour looks interesting. I will have a closer look.

David, Redclyffe Yacht Club is up the river Frome, near to Wareham. I have actually been there last year, although not on a boat. It is a pleasant area, in deed. Being so up river, though, I don't think it suits us for now. We prefer something closer to open waters and we don't really enjoy motoring.
