I was going through some old Yachting Monthlies from the 1970s and came across this review of the relatively new at the time all GRP Twister by none other than the legendary JDS himself! The yacht passed with flying colours of course, though JDS does remark "She had one truly poor characteristic though; any attempt to manoeuvre astern seemed to be a gamble on how she'd pay off...In a fresh breeze it would be hazardous to rely on going astern out of a tight berth" He joins Tom Cunliffe in being unable to control these boats going astern, which leaves me feeling slightly less embarrassed by my inability to control Offcutt in astern, given these two greats also had the same trouble. Overall, though, JDS thought she was a likeable capable cruising yacht with a racing pedigree that could also be sailed short or even single-handed. Most owners today would probably agree!
