Hi

Season's greetings to all. Especially to anyone who can answer  two questions for us.

What is the angle of the transom from the vertical on a GRP Twister?

What is the internal diameter of the cockpit drain hose on a GRP Twister?

Thanks in advance

Anne & Mark

Hi Mark

Q1.

Angle of dangle: The Association holds drawings that I do not publish on the web for copyright reasons. I have sent you the full drawing. However, I have also measured and get 45 degrees.

Q2.

Diameter of Drain: This would be up to the builder or subsequent work by an Owner. However 1 1/2" is most likely. This is the standard Blakes Seacock [best in the World] for the heads. My ones were this size and did the job well...although very rarely needed to deal with more than a big splash.

Hi Mark,

We have 2 x 1.5” Blakes seacocks. The drains in the cockpit are fabricated from good quality 1.5” sink/bath wastes with their gratings cut out to give much better water flow. You could argue that this is grossly excessive BUT, on one occasion, we had the cockpit full to the coamings and it drained reassuringly quickly! (Bit like having the right insurance though rarely needed).
To corroborate Peter’s comments on Blakes. We still have some original fittings from 1970 and I think they are better quality and machining than the ones now sold.
Crionna is now in Neyland so if you’d ever like to pop over and have a look and chat we’d be delighted to oblige!

Best wishes for Christmas

Hi John And Ann,

Thanks for the information.

We will see you soon in Nayland. Sycorax is been transported to Dale Sailing's yard at the beginning of March. Launching middle of the month. We have a mooring in the upper basian.

It would be nice to meet and have a chat. SW Wales is a new cruising ground for us and some local knowledge would be very handy.

Cheers

Mark & Anne
