Justin's latest YouTube vid got me thinking.
I do love a bit of offshore singlehanded stupidity as you probably realise.
I was supposed to be positioning the boat for a transatlantic this year but covid has put my long term plans on hold for a number of reasons so I thought I might do Valencia to the Azores at the same time as the Jester'ers made their way there. If for no other reason than to have a beer with like minded lunatics when I get there. It's a bit further from Valencia but not much longer time wise as the passage across from Portugal would be more beamy than from the UK.
But then I thought perhaps we don't need them Jester folks. Last years newsletters were nothing but offshore sailing!!! We should do our own challenge.
I know there are a few Twister owners who have done or are working towards the Atlantic Jester challenge. (I have to be honest that I would do it in a Vertue or a Folkboat if I was to do it just for historical reasons) But how about we start a Twister offshore challenge? Perhaps to the Azores this year with the Jester if it goes ahead and then think of some other challenges in the future?
I had a daft idea of a round the Island race where the Island was Bermuda. It means you don't have to work out where to leave the boat in the states 🙂
Well I'm rambling but that's kind of the point.
Anyone interested? Got any ideas?
Your one funny man. Sounds fun, not too sure about the sailing bit though. How many Twisters can we afford to loose at sea. A twister challenge none the less. Quite fancy finishing up in the Carabbean, id never make it back home though.
I wasn't planning on losing my boat! Bugger. I may have to reconsider this.............
We should talk about it in the Sports bar in Horta.
