Well, here we are then. After some sterling advice from Mr Mulville I have set the mast rake so that it's at least in the ballpark now, and trimmed the sails more appropriately. Last year's weather helm has disappeared and was clearly a classic case of user error. I was blessed with 12 knots on the beam all the way home on launch day and maintained about 5.5 knots SOG into the tide for the whole trip home. Absolutely spectacular sail.

Now, to the real business. I don't think I am alone in hoping to see a twister gathering on any scale this year. The following are just suggestions, please feel free to contribute.

I suggest Falmouth or Fowey. Both are pretty and charming, navigation is unproblematic and the local sailing is excellent. Both are also home to classic events that may coincide favourably with a gathering (just before or after). PLEASE MAKE A SELECTION OR SUGGESTION CLEARLY BELOW.

A long weekend in July perhaps? Unless anyone has a different idea?

Are people up for this or should I pipe down? As soon as a venue and date can be settled I can start making enquiries and organising things locally. Or pipe down, I submit to the will of the majority,

Regards,

Justin

Hi Justin,

Good idea. Id favour an early date June/early July.  Both those locations sound good.

That is a great start, so may I suggest then (because people can't say yes or no unless they know whats on the table), 5 -8th July, Falmouth.

Hi I shall endeavour to be there but this depends if the crew is willing and the flesh is not weak - The Channel Classics Regatta finishes in Paimpol on the 6th; the hospitality there is meant to be epic.

This of course assumes I can get to France that Brexit has not got to shoot out in the OK Corral status.

The weekend is in the diary!  Sea Miste lives at Mylor Yacht Harbour so is on the spot.

I'm planning to leave Falmouth at the beginning of July unfortunately. Fortunately that probably means I'll still be around. If i am I'll see you all there.

A quick update then....

I'm just trying to arrange pontoon berthing for us at Mylor Yacht Club. So far, it looks like 4 boats and maybe 5 or 6 people. I will hold off on any bookings for food anywhere until nearer the time as I'm hoping/thinking that numbers will increase. If you are planning to come please post here when know for sure (if you haven't already done so), the sooner the better. Great sailing weather today in the West Country cool

Justin,

We are very sorry to have to miss the gathering at Mylor.  Sea Miste will be there on D36 but we now have to be in Hampshire for a family event.  We do hope you have a good time there.  Good beer at Mylor Yacht Club in its swish premises on the quay and good food at Castaways also on the quay.  Breakfasts and lunches at Cafe Mylor just below the yacht club.

All the best,

Cathie and Philip
