Summary

BITS is a mark IIA Twister 28. built in late 70's and launched in 1981. She has been widely sailed in North Atlantic and N.Sea. She is rigged for short handed sailing (Cape Horn windvane) and has recently benefitted from a new engine, sterngear and headsail. In good order and fully maintained, the hull is coppercoated and topsides recently painted.

Electrics: batteries, 3 maintenance free, 2x 94ah, 1x 110ah. Smart Dolphin battery charger fed through 240vac switchboard. Switchboards (2) and wiring renewed 2018. LED nav. lights and some internal lights converted.
Anchors, Chains and Warps:
  • 25lb CQR, SL deck winch and 50 metres cable. 20lb CQR kedge.
  • Full set of warps and numerous spare cordage.
Instruments and Electronics:
  • Raymarine A series 6500 chartplotter with European navionics charts
  • NASA wireless wind, log, depth and multi readout with Garmin GPS connected. Navtex
  • Marine VHF (with AIS receiver) , Handheld VHF, HH and main porthole compass. Emergency compass
  • New Pioneer car type radio and disc player
Accommodation Layout:
  • Standard 4 berth with twin forward and 2 berths in saloon (convertable to double)
  • Galley to port with sink, fridge and Taylors oven and twin hob.(Parafin)

  • Full chart table to starboard .

Other Details: This Classic Holman and Pye design (1963) has sailed extensivly and competed successfully in Cowes classic races and round the island always finishing prominently. Featured prominently in Yachting Monthly Sept. 2017 article. She is ready to sail away and fully equiped having been lovingly maintained and sailed by this now elderly sailor.
